Multicultural Marketing Advertorial

Facts:

  • Australia is a multicultural country. It hosts many cultures, languages, races and beliefs. This diversity creates immense challenges and opportunities.

  • In the 2006 census, more than 4 million people reported themselves as speaking a language other than English at home. Reaching out and including this segment of Australian society has become a necessity and is mandatory for all agencies.

  • Australia's population grew by 2.1% during the past 12 months and overseas migration contributed 66% to this total population growth. (ABS, Sep 2009)

How do these facts affect your agency? Are you heading in the right direction?

The annual Multicultural Marketing Conference will explore contemporary issues on multicultural marketing and communication within the Australian setting. Since it commenced as a seminar for public sector employees at Randwick Race Course in Sydney in 1989, the conference has grown to become a national forum for agencies and businesses to learn and share strategies and techniques in engaging with a multicultural audience.

A key concern of many government agencies is reaching communities: how can the agency interact with all sections of a diverse community and increase their participation in government activities.

The Multicultural Policies and Services Program of the Community Relations Commission of NSW provides a framework to assist agencies to be publicly accountable for the delivery of relevant and accessible services to culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse communities.

This year, the Commission worked in partnership with other government and corporate organisations to deliver a conference program that has a strong focus on identifying the needs of communication and marketing professionals. The conference will focus on the challenges of attracting culturally diverse audiences to programs, products or services that are different to their practices, beliefs or traditions. It will feature renowned industry leaders who will present strategic, successful and creative initiatives and share challenging experiences.

The conference, organised by the Community Relations Commission of NSW, will be held on Monday, 1 November 2010 in conjunction with the 2010 National Multicultural Marketing Awards. Click here to register.
