2011 Community Relations Symposium and Youth Leaders Day

The Community Relations Commission has a statutory responsibility to consult widely with our culturally, religiously, linguistically and racially diverse community. The Annual Symposium (held each year since 2001) and Youth Leaders Day (held each year since 2006) are one of the fora for the Commission to meet this key commitment.

The 2011 Symposium and Youth Leaders Day were held on 21 - 22 September 2011 in Parramatta.  Both days have become highly anticipated events for the many community organisations and students who attend.

The guiding theme of the Symposium “Where do we go from here?” and Youth Leaders Day “Who am I?” allowed participants to explore and discuss matters important to multicultural Australia.

The members of the Community Relations Commission Multicultural Youth Network played a key role in the development and implementation of Youth Leaders Day and also acted as workshop facilitators on the day.

Cultural diversity, harmony and equality were at the forefront of lively discussions and the ideas explored throughout the day in the context of current social, political and economic conditions.

The ideas and feedback generated have been compiled into the Symposium and Youth Leaders Day reports.
