Communities

The Community Relations Commission and Principles of Multiculturalism Act (2000) recognises and values the different linguistic, religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds of residents of NSW, and promotes equal rights and responsibilities for all residents of NSW.

Our multicultural society is a community of communities. In it, all individuals and organisations should have an opportunity to contribute and participate in public life, as well as an equitable access to government services.

In this section you will find a list of peak or key community organisations in NSW.  The Commission is satisfied that these organisations have fulfilled the following requirements:

  • incorporated
  • not-for-profit
  • goals consistent with the Commission
  • acknowledged as an organisation of importance by other sections of the community/constituency

Requests for inclusion in the key organisation list should address these requirements in a submission to the Commission.

The CRC maintains a database of community organisations across New South Wales to carry out its legislated functions and activities. If you would like to be included in the CRCs Community Contact Database, download and complete the application form, and fax it to (02) 8255 6868, or submit an online form to register your interest.

The Commission does not disclose contact information about any organisation listed on this website or those held in its contacts database.

How can I contact community organisations or members?

If you would like the Commission to contact a community organisation on your behalf, assistance can be offered through the EmailLink message delivery service.
